Civic Education Kenya · Nasaka IEBC Status
We hit the ceiling.
We're coming back.
Since October 1st 2025, Nasaka IEBC has helped hundreds of thousands of Kenyans find their nearest IEBC
office. This March, the demand grew faster than we could build our updates. Here's how we are being open
about it.

What happened
Nasaka IEBC registered over 1.5 million requests this March - 1.4m of which happened within 48 hours. Our
infrastructure was not built to handle that kind of overnight growth. We had already started an upgrade when
things tipped over. Thus, needing us to either forfeit the site for the next 30 days or to push the upgrade
through. That is the honest story. The code side is sorted. What we need now is the budget to push the
upgrade through and get the site back up before the 30th - when the CVR push begins.
Where things stand
March 10th to 18th, 2026
Infrastructure upgrades built
Geocoding pipeline, HITL admin tools, and API consolidation all completed in
the codebase. The tech is ready to deploy.
Now to March 30, 2026
Budget gap open, asking for your help
The code is done. We need the budget to get the upgraded hosting live and keep
things running. We need KSh 5,000 total. KSh 5748 raised so far.
Target: March 30, 2026
Nasaka IEBC back online
Full web app restored, API stable, and capacity scaled to handle what 2027 is
going to bring.
Help us get back online
Nasaka IEBC is free to use because people who believe in civic transparency choose to support it. The
code is done. We need the budget to deploy it. Every shilling goes straight into the infrastructure that
serves Kenyans. We account for this amount in our monthly newsletter drops.
